Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Thailand Field Notes respects reader privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the information that may be processed when visitors use this informational travel site and the services that are currently active.

2. Google Analytics is active

Google Analytics is active on Thailand Field Notes under measurement ID G-WPY4ST0YRH. It is used to understand aggregate traffic, page usage, referral patterns, and site performance so the editorial team can maintain and improve the site.

3. Technical and usage data

Google Analytics and the site’s hosting or security providers may process technical and usage information. This can include browser and device type, operating system, language, pages viewed, referring page or campaign information, interaction events, timestamps, approximate location derived from an IP address, and technical or security events. Google Analytics may also assign identifiers that help distinguish visits or sessions. Thailand Field Notes does not provide accounts, memberships, comments, user profiles, payments, contact submissions, or other user-submitted content.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Google Analytics may use first-party cookies or similar technologies, where permitted by browser settings and the applicable service configuration, to distinguish visits, measure interactions, and produce usage reports. Hosting and security services may also use necessary technical mechanisms to deliver and protect the site.

5. How information is used

Technical and usage information may be used to operate and secure the site, understand which pages are used, improve content and performance, detect abuse, and investigate technical failures. Thailand Field Notes does not use this information to make travel, immigration, insurance, medical, legal, or other high-stakes decisions about individual visitors.

6. Google and other third-party processing

Google processes Google Analytics data under its own terms and privacy practices. Hosting, delivery, and security providers may also process information needed to serve and protect the site. These providers may process information in countries other than the visitor’s own. External websites linked from Thailand Field Notes follow their own privacy policies.

7. Advertising, AdSense, affiliate links, and sponsorships

Google advertising and Google AdSense are not currently active on Thailand Field Notes. The site does not currently display AdSense ads or use Google advertising features. Affiliate links and sponsorships are also not currently active. Publishing an ads.txt record does not by itself activate advertising or cause ads to be displayed. This policy must be reviewed before advertising or other commercial tracking features are enabled.

8. User choices

Visitors can block or delete cookies through browser settings, use browser privacy controls, or use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on where it is available. Blocking cookies or similar technologies may change how measurement works but should not prevent access to the site’s public articles. Visitors should review Google’s privacy information and the policies of linked third-party services when deciding whether to use them.

9. Sharing, retention, and legal disclosures

Information may be processed by the service providers described above and may be disclosed when reasonably necessary for security, legal obligations, safety, or a change in site ownership. Thailand Field Notes does not intentionally sell personal information. Retention periods are controlled by the relevant service configuration and provider requirements, and information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the stated purposes.

Thailand Field Notes is a general-audience travel information site and is not directed to children or intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.

This policy may be updated when site features, service configurations, or relevant requirements change. The current version will be published on this page.

12. Contact

Thailand Field Notes currently provides no direct contact form or public email address. Readers cannot submit privacy requests through the site at this time. Browser and Google Analytics choices described above remain available directly through the relevant browser or Google service.
